Queer Health Collective

The Queer Health Collective (QHC) is a student-led group dedicated to promoting access to care for queer and gender-diverse communities. Originally founded as the Whitman-Walker cohort within the Healing Clinic, the QHC has since expanded into a broader initiative focused not only on clinical care, but also on advocacy, education, and community engagement. We aim to provide affirming, low-barrier services to queer patients through our partnership with Whitman-Walker Health while creating opportunities for students to lead and advocate within the realm of queer health. Our work is grounded in the belief that healing extends beyond the clinical encounter, encompassing community engagement, representation, and systemic change.

Future Directions
Looking ahead, the QHC is focused on deepening its impact through several avenues:

  • Expanding Clinical Offerings: We are actively exploring opportunities to increase the availability and scope of LGBTQ+ focused care through the GW Healing Clinic.
  • Building Advocacy Partnerships: In addition to clinical services, we seek opportunities to partner with local organizations and national initiatives focused on LGBTQ+ health equity.
  • Collective Sustainability: Student volunteers play an active role in sustaining the QHC’s mission—organizing efforts, maintaining partnerships, and ensuring our work remains accountable to the communities we serve.

We welcome collaboration, feedback, and new ideas as we grow. Whether you’re a student, provider, or community member, we invite you to join us in shaping a more inclusive future for healthcare.
